This ADU project presented an exciting “creative survey” challenge for a partially built-out space underneath an existing hillside residence. The former basement was converted into a light-flooded, playful space. Various custom built-ins are concealing the complicated existing foundation geometry against the hillside. A new balcony for the unit above and several terraced exterior patios and planter beds create multiple opportunities to enjoy the lush hillside garden.
